- Bawl-Cry or wail heavily

- Sneer- A look of scorn or contempt.
- Abomination- An object of intense loathing or dislike

- Dole-Distributing, common in charity

- Ravenous- Extremely hungry

ReplyDeleteUsing a "text-to-text connection," your descriptive description of "immortal" reminds me of the epic hero, Gilgamesh!
ReplyDeleteIn addition, I found it interesting to learn that "shillings" were a form of money in the 18-1900's. Its truly fascinating to me the way in which each individual country has its own form of "civilization," in a way, as each individual culture, has its very own customs. (Relating to the "culture" theme.)
I am glad you've posted these words seeing as it has helped with me get a better understanding of the novel while reading. The only thing is I agree with Jenna, it would have been nice if you included the pages that you discovered these words on in case we were to ever go back and reread certain sections in the novel.
